DevOps Engineer

Lingo Network is an IT consulting and development house of specialists and software engineers. We identify requirements, issues and obstacles that our clients have, and deliver the most adequate solution, through either software development or process structuring.

Our ongoing projects span various fields and include: telecommunications tools, data analytics, administrative applications, web systems and online education. At present, our focus is on big data storage for analytics, and high availability web sites and services.

Position: DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities:

· Maintain a number of applications, covering all aspect of system operation.

· Implement automation as part of improving application maintenance practice.

· Participate in development projects in various technology from conception to deployment.

· Stay current with technology and area of specialization & share knowledge with other team member to improve operational practice.

Requirements:

Base

· Strong drive and commitment, with a big sense of responsibility

· Strong team player – understood the benefit of synergy and team play

· Good communication skill – able to convey complicated concept in simple terms, able to articulate technical argument well

· Strong software engineering skills/background and understanding of software design principles.

Language

· English a must, Japanese proficiency of JLPT 3 or higher a (big) bonus

Experience

· At least 1 years’ experience in operational support of large scale system with responsibilities beyond just programming.

· At least 1 years’ experience in web application development or design and development involvement in 2 software development projects with user base exceeding 500 users.

Education

· A bachelor degree with honors or equivalent (1st class preferred) in Computer Science or related field.

Technical Requirements: 

Strong understanding of below:

· Web technology: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, HTTP fundamental

· Programming: Java, PHP

· Operating System: Linux, bash scripting, firewall

· Database: Any one of MySQL or PostgreSQL. OLTP experience a must, OLAP experience a bonus.

Additional points:

· Python, NAGIOS, NGINX, CHEF, working with Google APIs for spreadsheets and other Google products, OAUTH integration, Kettle, SVN/GIT, Jenkins/CI tools, Memcache, Bacula, and other things that can help us to bring an edge to our DevOps practice.

Other

· Candidate with Japanese visa and Japanese proficiency will be strongly considered / prioritized.
