Job Description Summary

As an experienced techno-commercial and development professional and member of an in-house team of expert techno-commercial experts, this role is responsible for highlighting, for the GE Vernova Financial Services (FS) business, the development, technical, operational, cost and schedule risks associated with equity investment in development, construction and operating power & renewable assets and projects – all for supporting investment decisions;

This individual will be responsible for identifying early to mid stage development techno-commercial risk and proposing mitigants in support of underwriting, leading due diligence and support formation and implementation of strategies within new investment platforms and portfolio reporting and management.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Specialize in assessing early to mid stage development, technical, operational, construction and development risks in the energy industry.
  • Support deal execution teams through front end and customer facing involvement in development deals exhibiting deep domain knowledge and expertise in projects from inception to a “ready to build” / financial close stage.
  • Support the efforts of EFS underwriting and portfolio groups in identification and mitigation of risks and in execution of investment objectives. Perform techno-commercial due diligence for both underwriting and portfolio holdings.
  • Review and instructively comment on technical and construction specifications as outlined in key project documents such as interconnection, power off-take, permits, land agreements, and equipment, construction, operations and maintenance contracts, in some cases even leading / supporting the negotiations of these documents.
  • Ensure that technical and business-related issues are communicated within EFS and provide techno-commercial risk assessments for credit requests
  • Interact with EFS customers and partners and internal GE Power and GE Renewables teams in the completion of due diligence and negotiation of financing terms related to technical issues.
  • Possess understanding of the risk appetite, and portfolio management philosophy of EFS.
  • Lead due diligence processes into new investment platforms.
  • Develop and structure development budgets, schedules and reporting frameworks for new investment platforms.
  • Be familiar with the GE industrial product offerings and maintain contacts within GE Power and GE Renewables.
  • For assigned investment platforms, manage development progress, reporting and alignment with project budgets and schedules.
  • Actively monitor portfolio (e.g. regulatory requirements, development progress, construction, physical plant optimization, and contractual performance). Possess in-depth understanding of how specific sub-function interacts with the broader business, as well as a good understanding of the industry and commercial awareness.
  • For assigned projects, develop and supervise construction management teams and ensure construction safety, environmental  compliance, cost and schedule performance. Provide internal reporting on construction status.
  • Support EFS efforts to sell equity positions through assembly of technical project information and responding to buyer’s technical questions.
  • Develop and Support investment strategies into other carbon neutral GE Technologies within new markets. Specifically development into blue power and the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) space.
  • Must be able to travel within India and APAC for about 40% of the time.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Civil or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and Construction Management.
  • Masters post-graduation either in engineering or management strongly preferred.
