Job Summary

This position is part of the Bargaining Unit Local 29. If offered a position, membership with the union will be required.

Job Description

DUTIES:

Under direct supervision, to perform drafting and field work of a nature requiring basic skills and knowledge in the electrical, mechanical, civil, or architectural field.

• As instructed, prepares drawings, sketches and graphs of moderate complexity required for the development and completion of a project.
• Checks, revises or corrects drawings as instructed.
• Makes field trips, normally with others, for the purpose of determining layout and design and obtaining necessary information and measurements as instructed.
• Performs manual tasks as necessary to obtain or provide required field information.
• Makes necessary computations of a degree appropriate to the assigned drafting and field work.
• Prepares job material lists pertaining to the individual's assigned work.
• Maintains job records and files pertaining to the individual's assigned work.
• Performs other work related to the above as required or as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school graduate with basic courses in mathematics and either physics or general science.
• Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and experience in MicroStation (preferred)
• As an Apprentice Technician or equivalent, must have demonstrated satisfactory performance, interest and responsibility in the work for at least one year.
• Must demonstrate moderate skill in measuring, drawing and lettering.
• Must demonstrate reasonable aptitude for making mathe­matical computations necessary to perform the duties of the job.
• Must have a general knowledge of Company safety regulations.
