- Lead and coordinate all design activities across Civil, Structural, MEP, Architectural, and IT/ELV disciplines.
- Manage multidisciplinary design interfaces to ensure alignment of inputs and outputs.
- Ensure consistency across drawings, specifications, calculations, BOQs, and schedules.
- Review and consolidate design deliverables into coordinated packages.
- Act as the primary focal point between designers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Manage design interfaces between packages and workstreams.
- Coordinate with construction, procurement, and commissioning teams to ensure design constructability.
- Facilitate technical workshops and design coordination meetings.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, applicable international codes and standards, airport/aviation standards, and local authority and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct design reviews and technical audits.
- Validate completeness and technical integrity of submissions.
- Identify and resolve design conflicts, gaps, and overlaps.
- Oversee clash detection using BIM/3D models.
- Lead value engineering and optimisation initiatives.
- Proactively manage design risks and mitigation plans.
- Develop and monitor the design schedule and milestones.
- Ensure timely submission of design packages.
- Track design progress and report to project leadership.
- Support procurement and construction with timely technical clarifications.
- Coordinate submissions and approvals with regulatory authorities and stakeholders.
- Support responses to technical queries and comments.
- Ensure documentation readiness for approvals and handover.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
- 10–15+ years of engineering/design experience.
- Minimum 5 years in a design coordination/management role.
- Experience in large-scale infrastructure or complex projects (airports, transportation, PPP, EPC, or megaprojects).
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams.
- Experience working with international consultants and contractors.
- Strong coordination and leadership skills across multidisciplinary design teams.
- Credible senior-stakeholder partner able to influence designers, consultants, contractors and authorities.
- Rigorous, detail-oriented reviewer of drawings, specifications and technical submissions; fluent English required, Russian or Uzbek an advantage.
- Design packages delivered on schedule, fully coordinated and free of unresolved clashes.
- Design submissions compliant with contract, code and regulatory requirements with no unresolved authority comments at handover.
- Design risks and interface issues identified and resolved proactively, without impact to programme or cost.
Role Purpose
The Design Manager leads and coordinates all multidisciplinary design activities across Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Architectural, and IT/ELV systems to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, fully integrated design packages. The role ensures effective interface management between disciplines, design consistency, and compliance with contractual requirements, applicable standards, airport regulations and authority approvals, while proactively identifying and resolving clashes, gaps and overlapping scopes.
