Job description
The Deputy Court Administrator manages daily operations for the Magisterial District Judge (MDJ) Courts in Beaver County. Key responsibilities include HR management, overseeing operational budgets, managing caseflow, and conducting legal research. This role acts as a primary liaison between the minor judiciary, the Court of Common Pleas, county departments, and state agencies.

Job Duties

  • Oversees daily operations and caseflow management across eight MDJ offices in Beaver County. Recommends and implements procedural improvements to optimize court operations and efficiency.

  • Prepares the Magisterial District Courts' annual budget. Works with the MDJ offices and the court to ensure compliance with sound fiscal management practices. Reviews audits by the County and Auditor General.

  • Manages Human Resources responsibilities for the minor judiciary. Determines appropriate staffing for the courts. Investigates and resolves employee complaints on time, keeping the Court Administrator informed of personnel matters.

  • Acts as the primary liaison between MDJ offices and the Court of Common Pleas and county offices.

  • Participates in research and planning initiatives for special court projects.

  • Researches legal developments affecting the judiciary and briefs staff on operational impacts.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts (AOPC) personnel and departments.

  • Compiles and submits statistical reports to comply with AOPC requirements and to support long-term planning for staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.

  • Identifies training needs and delivers professional development opportunities for new and experienced staff.

  • Handles requests for reasonable ADA accommodation and for the assignment of language interpreters.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or a closely related field; PLUS

  • Two years of experience in court management or three years of varied office management work, including professional-level experience in budgeting, procurement, and human resources management.

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training may be considered.

Additional Requirements

  • Satisfactory criminal background check required.

  • Familiarity with Pennsylvania’s magisterial district courts.

Salary information

Starting Annual Salary Range: $48,959 - $66,909

Maximum Annual Salary: $102,808
