Price Engineering is seeking a Cylinder Repair Technician to join our team and support the repair, rebuilding, testing, and troubleshooting of hydraulic cylinders and fluid power components. This is a hands-on role for a mechanically skilled individual who enjoys diagnosing problems, working with tools and equipment, and seeing a repair through from disassembly to final testing.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience with hand and power tools, and the ability to read hydraulic schematics, diagrams, and blueprints. You’ll work both independently and as part of a team in a climate-controlled shop environment, with opportunities for ongoing technical training and development.

Essential Functions

  • Disassemble, inspect, evaluate, repair, and rebuild hydraulic cylinders and fluid power components
  • Perform failure analysis and identify required replacement parts and repair needs
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools and machining equipment, including drill presses, lathes, polishing and honing equipment, and other shop machinery
  • Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, diagrams, and blueprints
  • Perform hydraulic testing and troubleshooting, including operation of flow meters, data acquisition equipment, multimeters, and precision measuring tools
  • Operate hydraulic test stands and test hydraulic systems to verify proper operation and performance
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic circuits and fluid power systems
  • Assemble and reassemble hydraulic components and cylinders
  • Prepare repair quotes using Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Communicate and send documentation using Microsoft Outlook
  • Perform pneumatic spray painting of repaired components
  • Operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe repair department
  • Follow established safety, quality, and repair procedures
  • Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by management

Experience, Education and Skills

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills are required
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools in a mechanical, industrial, hydraulic, or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, diagrams, and blueprints
  • Experience with or willingness to learn hydraulic cylinder repair, rebuilding, and testing
  • Strong logical problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple assignments
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, integrity, and professional conduct
  • Forklift experience/certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability and willingness to continue technical education and training
  • Must provide basic personal hand tools; Price Engineering provides specialty tools specific to the job
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform bending, assembly, installation, and troubleshooting activities associated with fluid power systems

    • Price Engineering internal technical training
    • Eaton Systemic Contamination Control training
    • Additional supplier training, seminars, and technical college courses as available
