Job description
The Cusomer Service Representative will assist in selling and promoting GFL’s solid waste services to businesses and industrial establishments by placing outgoing calls and handling incoming customer calls and questions in a professional, courteous manner. Assist outside sales representative with appointment setting, customer tracking and quotations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Interaction: Serve as the friendly face and voice of our brand by delivering warm, professional customer support via incoming phone calls, emails, web inquiries, and in-person visits.

  • Problem Solving: Listen attentively to customer questions and concerns, resolve issues within established guidelines, and coordinate solutions with our operations and sales teams.

  • Operations Support: Maintain clear communication with on-the-road drivers, generate call-in work orders, and coordinate daily missed stops or special pick-ups with supervisors.

  • Account & Payment Processing: Assist new and existing residential and commercial customers with setup, process payments by phone or online, handle refund requests for approval, and maintain accurate account files.

  • Documentation & Data Entry: Enter customer information, driver route sheets, and call logs accurately into our internal databases (including Tower system) and scan contracts as needed.

  • Teamwork & Positive Vibe: Maintain a positive, cooperative attitude, foster great relationships with team members, and ensure our front customer service area is clean, welcoming, and orderly.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required, along with 1–2 years of experience in a call center or high-volume customer service environment.

  • Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with a natural ability to connect with people over the phone and in person.

  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) with accurate data entry skills.

  • Thrives Under Pressure: Ability to multitask, stay organized, meet deadlines, and keep a cool head in a fast-paced environment.

  • Positive Attitude: A genuine passion for helping people and working collaboratively with a local team.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Schedule: Standard office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (No weekend shifts!).

  • Environment: Indoor office setting (95% of the time) with a moderate noise level.

  • Physical Requirements: Sitting or standing for long periods, using hands/fingers, talking, and hearing. Visual requirements include close and peripheral vision to work comfortably on dual monitors.
