About the Job

As a Platform Customer Engineer (CE), you will partner with technical Sales teams to differentiate Google Cloud to our customers. You will serve as the customer’s primary technical partner and trusted advisor, engaging in technical-led conversations to understand their business challenges. You will troubleshoot technical questions and roadblocks, engage in proofs of concepts and demos, and use your expertise to architect cross-pillar cloud solutions that solve these business challenges. You will drive the technical win and define the delivery and consumption plans. You will use your strategic acumen and presentation skills to engage with technical and business leaders, and persuasively present practical and useful solutions on Google Cloud. You will have excellent technical, communication and organizational skills.

You will focus on identifying, pursuing, and winning new business workloads and driving penetration within existing ones. You will have a breadth of technical expertise, spanning infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data analytics and more. You will blend sales expertise, market knowledge and direct technical engagement to prove the value of the Google Cloud portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections, and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers.
  • Share in-depth Google Cloud expertise to support the technical relationship with customers, including technology advocacy, supporting bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and partnering directly with product management to prioritize sovereign solutions impacting customer adoption to Google Sovereign Cloud portfolio.
  • Work directly with Google Cloud products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer and partner environments, building modular hybrid reference architectures from scratch to prove operational sovereignty.
  • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure required to successfully implement a complete solution on Google Sovereign Cloud, ensuring stringent compliance across data residency, access, and encryption.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role.
  • Experience with cloud engineering, on-premise engineering, virtualization, or containerization platforms.
  • Experience engaging with, or presenting to, technical stakeholders or executive leaders.
  • Ability to communicate in German and English fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with security concepts such as encryption, identity management, access control, attack vectors, and penetration testing, specifically tailored to EU/German compliance standards (e.g., SecNum Cloud, C3A).
  • Experience in migrating legacy, highly sensitive, or classified applications and workloads to cloud environments.
  • Experience prospecting, and building and maintaining customer relationships from scratch, with excitement for building out greenfield sovereign cloud territories.
  • Experience with high self-driving capabilities with a track record of building technical architectures or customer engagements from scratch.
  • Familiarity with the European sovereign cloud ecosystem, regulatory requirements, and managing complex multi-dimensional sales.
