<strong>PLEASE NOTE: This is a Grant Funded Position from 10/1/2024 to 09/30/28.</strong><br><br><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">Regular Schedule: 34 hours per week</span><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0"><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0"><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">Non-Merit vacancies exist in the Police Department, <span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">Criminal Investigations Bureau/Property Crimes Section. </span></span><br><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0"><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">Non-merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.</span><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0"><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0"><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">All interested candidates must apply at this time.</span><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0"><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0"><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">List all </span><strong style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">promotions </strong><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">and changes in job duties due to </span><strong style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">reclassification </strong><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">as separate work experience on your application. Proof of license(s), certification(s), and/or education must be submitted with each application.</span>Under general supervision, provides and verifies criminal record information to law enforcement officers, other law enforcement agencies, correctional institutions, and the judicial system, the nature of which is of such great criticality that error would likely result in immediate hazard to public safety.<br><br><ul><li>Accesses MILES, NCIC, MVA, and other police and criminal justice computer networks in order to enter, update, review, retrieve, and expunge information.</li><li>Uses criminal justice computer networks to provide critical information to police officers in the field, performs criminal background checks on subjects, records and processes arrest information, and gathers and researches other information as needed.</li><li>Sends and receives teletype messages to and from precincts and other agencies to provide or request information.</li><li>Reviews, edits, and disseminates sensitive and confidential information, such as arrest records, in response to inquiries from other law enforcement agencies, the courts, the general public, and other parties, in accordance with local, State, and Federal guidelines.</li><li>Processes warrants, criminal summonses, subpoenas, and ex parte orders in accordance with County, State, and Federal regulations.</li><li>Reviews and processes arrest documents.</li><li>Researches and verifies the identification of individuals on warrant validation lists and civil protective orders and makes corrections. </li><li>Issues detainers for incarcerated persons and ensures that warrants are served before defendants are released from custody.</li><li>Assigns and tracks citation books, processes and records issued citations, and audits citation records.</li><li>Sorts, validates and sends traffic citations to the States Attorney's Office.</li><li>Researches the disposition of arrests through State, Federal and local systems to verify expungement requests and expunges records as ordered by the courts.</li><li>Maintains criminal records and assists in the authorized destruction of records according to retention schedules and court processes. </li><li>Operates office machinery such as mimeograph machines, photocopiers, fax machines, and printers.</li><li>Receives, reviews and classifies different types of police crime reports. </li><li>Queries and searches automated information systems such as MILES, NCIC, and state criminal justice systems for additional required data.</li><li>Identifies and corrects errors found on reports.</li><li>Researches files and records and makes inquiries to locate missing information.</li><li>Resolves discrepancies with criminal justice personnel in other units and agencies to verify the identity of arrestees with the same or similar names.</li><li>Assigns codes to data contained in arrest reports and citations according to National Incident-Based Reporting System ( NIBRS) definitions, standards and guidelines.</li><li>Assigns codes to data contained in arrest reports and citations according to Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) definitions, standards and guidelines.</li><li> Enters data in a microcomputer/server environment from handwritten and typed police reports. </li><li>Enters criminal data in compliance with departmental procedures and standards.</li><li>Verifies the accuracy of data input. </li><li>Ensures correct sequence and control of source documents.</li><li>Detects and reports input procedural problems.</li></ul><strong>Examples of Other Duties</strong><ul><li>Provides routine office support by answering phones, directing calls and mail, filing, and acting as receptionist. </li><li>Collects and compiles technical data and prepares summary statistics. </li><li>Performs occasional light typing or word processing. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li></ul>(NOTE: The duties and responsibilities listed above are for the purpose of determining a common set of minimum qualifications for all positions in this class.
