Responsibilities:

  • Providing patent attorney support and advice to business units and inventors on all matters related to intellectual property
  • Proactively contributing to the development and implementation of IP strategies for the business groups
  • Providing patent attorney support for development projects and assisting in securing intellectual property protection for the results
  • Conducting and developing IP training programs
  • Responsibility for drafting and filing patents, utility models, trademarks, and designs, and managing the grant/registration procedures both domestically and internationally
  • Responsibility for enforcing and defending the company’s own intellectual property rights and challenging third-party intellectual property rights both domestically and internationally
  • Supporting business units with Freedom-To-Operate analyses both domestically and internationally
  • Collaborating on the drafting of IP provisions in contracts as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Conducting IP Due Diligence as part of interdisciplinary and global teams

Qualifications:

  • A successfully completed degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, physics, or electrical engineering, or a comparable qualification
  • Admission as a European Patent Attorney and/or German Patent Attorney
  • Preferably several years of professional experience at a patent law firm or in the patent department of an industrial company
  • Excellent communication skills for clearly explaining complex legal issues
  • Strong ability to work in a team, independent and efficient work style, high attention to detail, strong sense of responsibility, flexibility, ability to work under pressure, and initiative
  • Proficiency in using IP management software
  • Business-level proficiency in German and fluency in English
