Job Overview
Contracting and ancillary legal work is an essential part of the lifecycle of a live music performance and as a Paralegal at Wasserman Music you will be assisting with the facilitation of standout cultural moments. You will report to Legal Counsel for Music, but we’re looking for someone that is comfortable managing their own workload and that will build relationships and communicate confidently with stakeholders across the business. Legal Counsel is happy for the successful candidate to help them with any work they’re working on, to the extent they can demonstrate the Paralegal has the ability and motivation to do so.
What You’ll Do
- Assisting with review and negotiation of artists’ live performance contracts (touring, festivals, club show, private performances, and brand events).
- Preparation of ancillary documents/letters, relating to tour finance, governing Artist to Agency relationships and confidentiality.
- Review of brand partnership contracts.
- Maintaining bank of precedents and preparing training materials.
- Carrying out research for Legal Counsel.
- Assisting with litigious matters and payment enforcement.
- Diarising deadlines and generally assisting Legal Counsel with organisation.
- Providing assistance to Compliance team.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong academic background. Bachelors degree or Paralegal/Legal Assistant qualification.
- Have circa 2 years experience as a Paralegal, either in-house or in private practice, ideally working in the music/entertainment industry.
- Have a desire to work in commercial law/intellectual property.
- Enjoy a busy, open plan, fast-paced working environment.
- Be detail-orientated and accurate.
- Be self-motivated, hardworking, reliable, organised and accountable.
- Be confident communicating with stakeholders at all levels and have strong interpersonal skills. Show initiative and be willing to offer your opinion.
- Have a passion for music.
