At UPM Raflatac Mexico we are looking for a Controller, Customer Account Management to join our team in Sentura, State of Mexico who will be responsible for managing overdue accounts and supporting the recovery of delinquent payments in line with internal procedures, accounting principles and UPM Policies.

In the role of Controller, Customer Account Management, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining the financial health of our organization by managing customer accounts and ensuring timely collections. This position is more than just numbers—it’s about building relationships, solving problems, and collaborating across departments to support our customers and internal teams. What you will do 

  • Monitor and manage overdue accounts for standard- and elevated-risk customers (incl. overdue balances, payment plans, account/order block and release, disputes) 

  • Contact customers via phone, email, and letters to follow up on outstanding payments 

  • Maintain accurate records of collection activities and outcomes 

  • Addressing external and internal customer inquiries and requests in a timely manner (incl. account statements, balance confirmation and reconciliations etc.) 

  • Actively collaborate with the Sales and Customer Service teams to effectively exchange customer financial status information 

  • Escalate unresolved accounts to management or external recovery agencies 

  • Negotiate and establish payment plans in line with company policies and Group Credit Risk Management guidelines 

  • Regularly analyze AR and collection metrics and reports to identify trends, and take proactive actions to address issues, improve cash flow, and reduce overdue accounts 

  • Manage customer accounts: discrepancies and pending payments, unapplied cash, discounts, credit postings, write offs, payout requests and customer bank details, pro-forma invoices etc.    

  • Provide recommendations to management on write-offs 

  • Any other tasks assigned by Manager

Who you are 

  • High proficiency in English (spoken and written) 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field or minimum 3 years of experience in accounts receivable, credit control, or collections 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (especially via phone and email) 

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) 

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in record-keeping 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment 

  • Customer-focused mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving  

Special Considerations: High English Level Necessary, position will focus mainly on US and Canadian accounts.
