POSITION SUMMARY

The Control Technician will have strong understanding of PLC programming, industrial networking, electrical and controls systems to ensure the operability of existing production machines (PLC-Based, Rockwell), and to build the control systems for new machines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Work Safely in all aspects of the job.
  • Housekeeping of your areas of responsibility
  • Create complex PLC programs and make changes to existing programs to accomplish the needs and goals of production.
  • Provide guidance and support for the safe installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical control systems, including components of machinery and equipment.
  • Upgrade old machines with new controls and control systems including PLC’s, HMI’s, and AC/DC drives and associated software and hardware.
  • Troubleshooting experience of advanced motion control systems
  • Update and create new electrical schematics using AutoCAD design software.
  • Maintain software backups of all equipment in the plant. Maintain and update all schematics and electrical prints of machinery throughout the facility.
  • Work closely with process engineering, maintenance, and production staff to assure that all equipment is functioning as designed.
  • Excellent problem solving skills involving complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Able to conceptualize and communicate Human Machine Interface (HMI) for user ease, speedy fault recovery and robust operation.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience working independently and in a team environment to integrate and troubleshoot complex control systems to maintain maximum uptime. Including but not limited to single machines as well as complex systems of equipment networked together. 
  • Must be familiar with a variety of PLC brands including but not limited to Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rockwell, and Automation Direct.
  • AutoCAD or SolidWorks (AutoCAD Electrical experience a plus).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office suite programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visio.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lift 40 pounds from floor to chest.
  • Climb stairs/ladder when necessary to install/service electrical components/equipment.
