JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

MCC’s Continuing Education Division is seeking enthusiastic and experienced non-credit instructors to provide personal enrichment opportunities to members of our community. This position will have various teaching opportunities throughout the year and will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging and practical course content that enhances students’ personal growth and enriches their lives.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and implement engaging ASL curriculum and lesson plans tailored to students’ varying proficiency levels.
  • Conduct interactive classroom sessions that promote language acquisition and cultural appreciation.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Organize and facilitate in-class ASL-related activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of Deaf culture.
  • Experience teaching ASL in a classroom or workshop setting.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage diverse learners.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Preference is given to Deaf and hard of hearing candidates. CODAs and certified interpreters are also encouraged to apply.
  • A degree in Education, Linguistics, Deaf Studies, or a related field is preferred; relevant certifications in ASL instruction are a plus.

This position will have random teaching opportunities throughout the year.

MCC holds classes at multiple locations throughout the Metro area including Fremont and Blair.

Most classes are held weeknights and weekends.
