We are currently partnering with the WA Country Health Service to recruit a Consultant Intensivist to join the team at Geraldton Regional Hospital. This is a great opportunity to step into a brand-new ICU service and play a key role in shaping critical care delivery in a growing regional centre.

The Opportunity

This role offers more than a standard consultant position—it’s a chance to build, influence, and lead within a newly developed critical care environment.

  • Work within a majorly redeveloped health campus (approx. $190M investment)
  • Join at the launch phase of a new 8-bed ICU and HDU (mid-2026 opening)
  • Be instrumental in designing models of care, governance, and service delivery
  • Collaborate closely with ED, inpatient teams, and regional retrieval pathways
  • Strong focus on leadership, mentorship, and service development

  • New infrastructure includes ICU, ED upgrades, and inpatient facilities
  • Strong integration with regional and tertiary referral networks

The ICU will support a broad case mix, offering genuine clinical variety not often seen in metro units.

Salary & Benefits

  • Total package: approx. $412,000 – $523,000+ p.a. (incl. 12% super + PD allowance, dependent on experience)
  • Additional salary banding noted from $333,000 – $432,000 base ranges depending on contract structure
  • 4 weeks annual leave + 3 weeks PD leave
  • Generous CPD allowance and training opportunities
  • Opportunity to shape a new ICU from the ground up
  • Strong clinical leadership exposure (not typically available in metro roles)
  • Relocation support may be available

Requirements

  • Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (or equivalent)
  • Eligibility for specialist registration with AHPRA
  • Significant experience in ICU settings within comparable healthcare systems
  • Ability to contribute to clinical leadership, governance, and teaching
