ROLE OVERVIEW

Our client is seeking a CONOPS and Mission Analysis System Engineer to own the definition, development and documentation of CONOPS, mission scenarios, operational concepts and quantitative mission analyses for current and next‑generation earth observation and communications satellite missions. The engineer will work closely with customers, prime contractors and internal multidisciplinary teams to translate stakeholder needs into clear, traceable operational concepts that guide system architecture, requirements allocation, risk assessment and program planning.

Requirements & Systems Engineering

  • Capture stakeholder functional, performance, environmental, and security requirements.

  • Conduct workshops and trade studies to define mission needs.

  • Translate mission objectives into system-level requirements with full traceability.

  • Define and manage spacecraft, payload, and ground-segment interfaces (ICDs, data flows).

CONOPS & Mission Analysis

  • Develop and maintain the Concept of Operations (CONOPS) covering all mission phases.

  • Produce supporting artifacts (timelines, scenarios, flow diagrams).

  • Perform mission modeling and analysis (orbit, coverage, link budget, resources).

  • Evaluate architectural trade-offs (orbit, constellation, payload) across cost, risk, and performance.

Integration, Verification & Program Support

  • Develop verification plans, test matrices, and validation procedures.

  • Support system integration, IVV activities, and operational readiness.

  • Present technical results at key reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, ORR).

  • Maintain configuration control within PLM tools.

  • Support B&P activities and technology roadmapping.

Operations & On-Orbit Support

  • Support mission operations during critical phases.

  • Monitor telemetry, analyze performance, and update models/CONOPS as missions evolve.

  • Assist with contingency handling, SOOH development, and operator training.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead trade studies and coordinate cross-functional teams.

  • Communicate risks and technical status to management and customers.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or Physics with 8+ years in LEO/MEO mission planning & operations.

  • Strong foundation in systems engineering, orbit mechanics, and space environment.

  • Hands-on integration and troubleshooting experience.

  • Experience with Confluence and JIRA.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and independent working skills.

  • English required; French is an asset.
