Commercial deal shaper and negotiation lead 

We are seeking a candidate to support the Commercial Director and the Clients and Markets Executive (CME) in driving commercial performance across the firm.

About the Team

The CME Commercial Team is a small team focussed on driving commercial excellence across all areas of the business, and supporting the firm's commercial strategy of driving sustainable profitable growth. The team helps the firm to win profitable business through the development of appropriate pricing strategies, driving optimal negotiation outcomes and embedding commercial best practice, processes, knowledge and behaviours.    

As a member of the Team you will be involved in the following activities

  • Providing strategic commercial guidance and support to Partners and bid teams for large or commercially complex bids;

  • Negotiating framework rate cards and commercial incentives at a client account level;

  • Development of progressive pricing strategies for new product and service propositions;

 

  • Improving commercial diligence in business as usual decisions; 

  • Developing the commercial acumen of our people through hands on collaboration and identification of skills gaps and training requirements to maximise commercial performance (e.g. negotiation skills, contingent fee modelling, technology pricing models);  

  • Identifying and sharing success stories across the firm to showcase our best commercial behaviours; and

  • Contributing to the development of a commercial centre of excellence for our people.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong business acumen, good commercial awareness, curiosity and strong written and verbal communications skills.  The candidate must have excellent influencing skills and the ability to work across varying levels of seniority is a must.  They will be comfortable with ambiguity while working across a dynamic and diverse environment.  

This is a highly visible role that will provide an opportunity to work closely with  Senior Partners and Sales Teams and develop a broad understanding of the commercial performance of the entire firm.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven commercial pricing and deal shaping expertise

  • Negotiation strategy and execution capabilities

  • Technology pricing expertise is highly desirable

  • A solid background in commercial contracting principles

  • Experience of working with client Procurement teams

  • Strong financial, business and commercial acumen

  • An ability to challenge and influence a range of stakeholders in a commercial environment
