COBOL Software Engineer (Dutch-speaking)

We are looking for a COBOL Software Engineer for a long-term program at our client in retail.

Part of the project is to study and map the AS IS situation so they are future-ready by understanding all the applications and systems so they're able to easily build towards the TO BE in the future. The other part is technical support and development. 

Role context:

• Work on the internal B2B package (invoicing, article data, pricing, customer management…)

• AS‑IS analysis, documentation, diving into the sources, technical adjustments

• Application integrations

• Daily checks, incident resolution, ticket handling

• After one year: limited on‑call duty during office hours

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years COBOL experience (AcuCOBOL 85 is a plus)

• Experience with Oracle 19 is a strong advantage

• Knowledge of Linux/RedHat, VMware, SOAP/XML, Java SDK, Apache Ant, WebSphere

• Dutch is mandatory (all source comments and documentation are in Dutch) 

• Strong analytical mindset, eager to learn, good communication skills 

• Willingness to take on run/support tasks after onboarding (2nd line, very light on‑call: 1–2 calls/month)
