Apply to this jobPrimary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:
1. Ensure all aspects of Club Sports athletic programs comply with University standards and conference and national affiliation rules and regulations. Identify potential risk and helps in establishing criteria and plans for correction.
2. Coach, counsel, advise and mentor student athletes.
3. Work in association with the Club Sports Director and ensure the proper and student-athlete certifications as required by NCAA and University guidelines.
4. Explain and demonstrate the principles, techniques, and methods of regulating movement of the human body, kinesiology, biomechanics, etc. to achieve proficiency in the assigned activity or sport.
5. Observe students during practice to encourage good athletic skills and provide guidance for improvements. Assess student-athlete capabilities. Explain and demonstrate use of apparatus and equipment.
6. Promote good sportsmanship behavior and enforces discipline, establish and oversee appropriate penalties for breach of standards by members of the team according to Club Sports Student Handbook.
7. Manage student-athlete on and off-campus recruiting programs.
8. Assist in organizing competitions and tournaments.
9. Assist and/or executes program development, develops strategies for competitions and enrollment growth expectations.
10. Assist in implementing registration, payments and medical clearance compliance prior to student participation.
11. Other duties as assigned.
Equipment Used and Responsibility
- Fundamentals of game rules, regulations, and officiating
- Sport specific game and growth development strategy.
- University, NCAA and league specific rules and regulations.
- MS Office Suite software
Supervisory Responsibilities
May include all of any of the following: Volunteer Coaches, Graduate Assistants, Part-time staff, Student Leaders.
Experience/ Education
- 1 years’ work experience in a similar capacity.
- Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record and occasionally operates University vehicles.
- CPR, First Aid and Coaches’ Safety Training certifications required; AED training preferred.
- Must perform duties which require irregular hours, out of town and/or overnight travel.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation
