The Chaplain Resident will provide pastoral care and counseling to patients, families, hospital and medical staff and demonstrates continued educational growth and development in the chaplain residency program in accordance with the Standards of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides pastoral care and counseling to patients, families, staff and medical staff in individual, family or group context.
- Fulfills the Clinical Pastoral Education program requirements and the learning objectives of ACPE Standards.
- Participates in scheduled 24-hour chaplaincy coverage as department team member.
- Demonstrates a capacity to access appropriate information from patient’s chart as part of spiritual assessment and a capacity to add the Pastoral Care Treatment Plan and notes the chart.
- Demonstrates competency in the spiritual assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sits for up to 6 hours per day; 2 hours at a time. Stands and walks up to 1 hour each daily. Sits for up to 2 hours per day. Stands and walks up 5-6 hours daily. Uses hands and fingers frequently. Rarely lifts or carries up to 10 pounds. Occasionally stoops, bends, squats, crouches or kneels. Hearing, as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing, as it relates to general vision.
EDUCATION:
M.Div. or equivalent, at the discretion of department staff.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Readiness for learning in a program of CPE.
