Company:

Marsh

Description:

Marsh is seeking an experienced Claims Team Leader to join our Sydney office and lead a high-performing team delivering end-to-end claims management across a portfolio of casualty and property claims. This is a hands-on leadership role for a technically strong claims professional who enjoys solving complex problems, driving performance, and being the escalation point for high-impact matters.

We will count on you to:

  • Lead and develop a small team overseeing day-to-day claims operations, workflow, and performance against agreed service levels.
  • Manage a portfolio of complex casualty claims, including investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and achieving best outcomes.
  • Provide coverage work and decision-making on claims for clients and insurers.
  • Act as the key escalation point for complex claims and client complaints, ensuring timely resolution and clear stakeholder communication.
  • Drive operational excellence, including contributing to process improvement, compliance, and internal audit activity (identifying gaps, implementing recommendations, and escalating breaches where needed).
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders including claimants, insurers, underwriters, appointed experts, and internal teams.

What you need to have:

  • Demonstrated experience in casualty and property claims.
  • Proven people leadership/supervisory experience, with the ability to coach and develop others.
  • Strong technical capability across coverage interpretation, claims strategy, negotiation and influencing.
  • Confidence managing stakeholder expectations and communicating clearly in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant claims governance and best practice (e.g., Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth) and General Insurance Code of Practice).
  • A law qualification would be highly regarded.

Why join our team:

  • We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
  • We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.
  • Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
