The Opportunity

We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to deliver exceptional care and lead innovative programs.

What You'll Do

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will:

  • Provide clinical assessment and psychiatric treatment to children, adolescents, and youth.
  • Deliver leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary teams, including general practitioners, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Infant, Child, and Adolescent Taskforce recommendations.
  • Chair clinical review processes and ensure adherence to the Mental Health Act and other legislation.
  • Advocate for mental health needs in planning forums and liaise with key stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support mental health staff and general practitioners in a shared care model.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and professional development initiatives.

The Service provides free, confidential, and community-based mental health care. Key programs include:

  • Aboriginal Mental Health Program
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program
  • Adult, Youth, and Seniors Mental Health Programs

Requirements

  • Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or
  • Fellowship of the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (or as previously named, the College of Anaesthetists of Ireland) (FCAI), together with a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training (CSCST) or
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCA), together with a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Experience in child and adolescent mental health.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based care.
