What We’re Looking For

Right Hand is looking for all-star Chiefs of Staff to place at rapidly growing venture-backed companies. The Chief of Staff is a highly visible and key role that is responsible for managing the rhythm of the business, driving strategic initiatives, keeping a pulse on organizational health, owning special projects, and more. A force multiplier, the Chief of Staff works strategically across the leadership team and cross-functionally to drive communication, collaboration, alignment, and decision-making velocity. After 18-24 months as a Chief of Staff, there is usually an opportunity to take on a leadership role at the company.

Ideal Chief of Staff candidates will have:

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Exceptional communication skills, with an emphasis on clear and persuasive messaging across various platforms and to a range of audiences

  • Project management experience, specifically, a demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects simultaneously with a focus on prioritizing and meeting tight deadlines

  • A strong strategic mindset, with the ability to anticipate future needs and trends, and incorporate them into organizational planning

  • Operational expertise, including a proven ability to streamline operations, implement best practices, and enhance productivity and efficiency

Role Responsibilities

Specific day-to-day responsibilities vary depending on the company, but generally, you can expect to:

  • Own and facilitate quarterly and annual planning

  • Develop and track OKRs

  • Own and facilitate weekly executive meetings

  • Prepare for and attend board meetings, including board deck preparation

  • Build and oversee operational processes

  • Support fundraise and M&A activities

  • Lead priority strategic initiatives that roll up to the CEO

  • Attend key client and partnership meetings

  • Plan and host company events including in-person board meetings, annual all-hands off-sites, and leadership retreats

Who We’re Looking For

  • 3-10+ years of experience in an analytical role at a fast-paced startup, or prior Chief of Staff experience

  • Background in management consulting, investment banking, venture capital/private equity (not required)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business or a related field

  • Strong Excel and analytical skills

  • Ownership mentality - you’re a self-starter who independently drives initiatives

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfort with ambiguity and a problem-solver
