Job description

The Role | Te Mahi

We are seeking a Chef De Partie to join our friendly team in our busy kitchen at Sudima Christchurch Airport Hotel.
You must have high standards in food and great cooking techniques to support our Head Chef in a busy restaurant with breakfast, lunch, and dinner restaurant services as well as conferencing events. A knack for innovation is welcomed in this role.
This is a full-time role, 32 hours per week guaranteed minimum, remuneration of $30.50 per hour.

Responsibilities | Ngā Haepapa

  • Food preparation and production
  • Ensuring food produced is in line with kitchen recipes and standards in preparation, presentation and cooking techniques
  • Control wastage costs by following efficient preparation methods
  • Ensuring all food is stored and handled as per current food health and hygiene regulations
  • Ensure that work area, equipment and section is kept clean at all times
  • Following the guidelines of Senior chefs.
  • Meet and exceed guest expectations, enabling the Food & Beverage operation of the hotel to be recognised as a purveyor of consistent, quality and value for money cuisine

Requirements

About You | Ko Koe Tēnei

  • Minimum of 32 hours per week
  • Previous experience as a Chef De Partie/Demi Chef in a busy a la carte operation
  • Flexible to work rostered shifts, including weekends, late nights and public holidays.
  • Open communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • An engaging personality with the skills to interact with our guests
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
  • Capable of planning and delegating multiple tasks
  • Keeps up with cooking trends and best practices
  • Familiarity with sanitation regulations
  • Qualified culinary degree/certificate - Preferred, but not essential
  • Current rights to work within NZ
