The Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Inc. (HMFP), the physician organization of BIDMC, are seeking applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology. BIDMC and HMFP are part of an exciting long-term collaboration with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) to create a fully integrated cancer program that will redefine cancer care, research, and education across the region.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished academic leader to shape the vision and strategic direction of Radiation Oncology within this transformative collaboration. The Chair will lead the development of an integrated radiation oncology program across BIDMC and DFCI, advancing excellence in clinical care, translational and clinical research, education, and innovation while helping define a national model for multidisciplinary cancer care.

The successful candidate will also serve as inaugural President of the future Joint Center for Radiation Therapy Physicians, a collaborative organization of DFCI, BIDMC, and HMFP. The Chair/President will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Joint Center for Radiation Therapy Physicians, advancing the clinical, academic, and research missions of both BIDMC and DFCI for pediatric and adult patients.

Applicants should have a proven record of significant leadership skills and demonstrate notable academic accomplishment to nurture and enhance the research, teaching, and clinical portfolios of a superb Radiation Oncology enterprise. This individual will have far-reaching and impactful leadership responsibilities across BIDMC and its affiliates. They must have exemplary administrative, operational, financial, academic mentoring, and communication acumen to engage with institutional, departmental, and divisional leaders, the Harvard community, as well as regional, national, and international communities.

The successful candidate must be a physician who is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology and eligible for an academic appointment as Professor or Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School, commensurate with their experience, training, accomplishments, and contributions to education and teaching.

Pay Range:

$925,000 - $1,145,000

The base pay range reflects what Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (HMFP) reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting and may be modified from time to time. Actual compensation within this range may be determined based on several factors, including academic appointment, work experience, specialty training, geography of work location, anticipated productivity, FTE basis, and role expectations. In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which may include bonuses for productivity and quality HMFP also offers a comprehensive and generous employee benefits program to eligible employees, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as retirement plan(s) with employer contributions.
