Position Overview:
Aspen Quick Care is seeking a patient-centric, self-starter, medical assistant who will support our providers, collaborate and be part of an integrated care team as well as ensure quality, seamless care to our patients. The Medical Assistant will cultivate relationships with our providers, patients, care team and Community partners. You will play an integral role in the Medical office acting as a patient advocate and liaison with healthcare providers. Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure patients’ electronic records are updated, and perform standard procedures such as blood drawing and taking vitals.  You will also need a keen eye for detail as the role encompasses clinical skills as well documenting test results, administering medications, and assisting in prior authorization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization
  2. Assist patients in exam rooms and identify needs for assistive devices such as wheelchairs
  3. Performs standard procedures including, but not limited to, blood draws, vitals, EKGs, Rapid Strep Tests, Rapid Flu Tests, Rapid HCG Tests, and Rapid Mono Tests.
  4. Accurately and efficiently measures and records vital signs
  5. Prepare exam rooms and medical instruments for examinations, X-rays, and procedures.
  6. Administer injections, medications and point-of-care testing as directed by the physician
  7. Assist with pre and post op patient education as well as ensure paperwork is signed and accurate
  8. Assist with prior authorizations 
  9. Cleans exam rooms according to standard protocols to include stocking of rooms as needed
  10. Maintains a clean and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols
  11. Answers phone calls with a professional and compassionate greeting, and document calls
  12. Educates patients about medical conditions, treatment plans, and home care instructions as directed by the physician
  13. Handling of medical and biohazardous waste
  14. Stocking and rotating inventory & letting the Team Lead know when more stock is needed
  15. Creating referrals as directed by the physician 
  16. Administer and complete Urine Drug Screening
  17. Perform employer paid service and occupational health services as required in employer protocols. 
  18. Training and shadowing as needed
  19. Any other tasks as needed assigned by manager

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Experience working with and supporting healthcare providers preferred
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals
  • Experience with completing medication prior-authorizations (preferred)
  • Familiarity with appropriate CPT and diagnosis codes, (preferred)
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience as a medical assistant

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Physically demanding, high-stress environment
  • Exposure to blood, sharp instruments and other devices, body fluids and tissue, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions 
  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients 
  • Manual and finger dexterity 
  • Hand and eye coordination 
  • Standing and walking for extensive periods of time 
  • Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs
