Apply to this jobWe are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Category Specialist to join our Commercial team. The role will support category planning and execution by analyzing commercial performance, managing product lifecycle activities, monitoring pricing and promotions, and maintaining an effective product assortment.
The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and experience in retail, FMCG, e-commerce, buying, merchandising, or category management.
Responsibilities
- Analyze category sales, margins, profitability, inventory, customer behavior, and product performance.
- Monitor category KPIs and prepare reports to support commercial decisions.
- Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify trends, pricing movements, and assortment opportunities.
- Execute category plans in line with the company’s commercial objectives.
- Coordinate new product listings, assortment changes, and product discontinuations.
- Maintain accurate product information, hierarchy, attributes, and master data.
- Monitor product availability and inventory performance to minimize shortages and excess stock.
- Support pricing reviews, promotional planning, and merchandising activities.
- Evaluate promotional performance and recommend improvements.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding pricing, product information, promotions, and commercial requirements.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Supply Chain, Inventory, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Merchandising, and Quality teams.
- Prepare category reports, dashboards, presentations, forecasts, and commercial summaries.
- Maintain pricing files, promotional calendars, and category documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in category management, commercial operations, buying, merchandising, retail, FMCG, e-commerce, or a related commercial role.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret sales, margin, inventory, and customer data.
- Good understanding of category management, product lifecycle, pricing, promotions, and assortment planning.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and business intelligence tools such as Power BI is preferred.
- Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced commercial environment.
