Job Description

The Buyer II position is responsible for managing all aspects of assigned merchandise categories, including product selection, forecasting, trend analysis, assortment planning, and vendor management. This role supports the development of product lines, analyzes sales performance, and helps drive merchandise strategies that maximize sales and margin. The Buyer II also collaborates with and supports Buyer I and Assistant Buyer team members while working to deliver compelling product assortments across Rally House stores nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Allocate merchandise to stores based on inventory analysis
  • Manage a high volume of purchase orders, including purchase order creation, inventory logistics, receiving, and allocation
  • Develop promotions and marketing concepts to drive merchandise sales
  • Ensure vendor compliance with shipping and pricing policies
  • Work independently while managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
  • Identify trends for new products, graphics, and Rally House exclusives
  • Perform forecasting, reporting, and sales analysis
  • Build strong vendor partnerships and assist with negotiating pricing and credit terms
  • Negotiate costs to maximize gross margin while maintaining competitive retail prices
  • Review recommendations for the development of product lines and assortments to achieve budgeted sales
  • Support Buyer I and Assistant Buyer team members as assigned
  • Lead product development to design and curate a unique assortment for assigned categories
  • Review and recommend markdowns on products
  • Implement complex inventory solutions

Skills and Knowledge

Creative and artistic capability with a keen eye for detail, Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Strong negotiation skills, Superior communication skills both written and verbal, that communicate clear, effective messages

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of previous buying and merchandising experience
  • 1+ year of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
  • Experience with merchandise planning and inventory allocation preferred
  • Relevant retail or industry experience preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment
  • Able to clearly view and read information on a computer screen
  • Occasionally lift or move items up to 15 pounds

Pay Range

$60,000.00 - $90,000.00
