Job description

This position is primarily responsible for supporting the procurement of materials, services and consumables that support production operations. This may include both direct and indirect material purchases.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review the master production schedule regularly to identify any materials that need to be procured or rescheduled to align with current requirements
  • Place purchase orders with suppliers, obtaining delivery commitments, and maintaining delivery due date and promise date information
  • Managing inventory levels that achieves the desired service level while minimizing the risk of excess
  • Regularly view and maintain material lead times to ensure accurate material planning
  • Maintain ERP system standard costs and minimize purchase price variances
  • Review and approve Change Orders that affect materials the buyer is responsible for
  • Communicate material supply issues that may impact the timely execution of the production schedule
  • Assist organizational stakeholders in establishing best practices and purchasing policies

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or relevant experience
  • Minimum Experience:
  • 2+ years purchasing experience
  • Experience navigating ERP and material planning systems
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience sourcing and procuring a variety of material commodities
  • Experience in medical device or electronics components industries
