The Buyer is responsible for procurement activities of electronic components, metals, fabricated parts, and assemblies to support manufacturing of programmable power supplies in a high-mix environment. This role ensures materials are purchased and delivered on time to support production schedules while following company purchasing and supply chain procedures.
Responsibilities
- Place purchase orders for materials, components, and services required to support production and forecast demand.
- Monitor supplier delivery performance and follow up on open orders to ensure on-time delivery.
- Support negotiations with suppliers regarding pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
- Assist in cost reduction and inventory management initiatives.
- Work with internal teams to resolve material shortages and supply issues affecting production.
- Review MRP recommendations and convert requirements into purchase orders.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information.
- Coordinate with Planning, Warehouse, and Production teams to support material availability.
- Respond to daily shortage reports and take appropriate actions to minimize production interruptions.
- Process supplier returns, replacements, and corrective actions as needed.
- Assist Accounts Payable in resolving invoice discrepancies and supplier payment issues.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers to support operational objectives.
- Track and communicate supplier performance metrics and delivery commitments.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.
- Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience purchasing electronic components, metals, fabricated parts, or related materials preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced English communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems; Navision, Oracle, or ManMan experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs.
- The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- APICS, CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, or other supply chain certifications are a plus.
