NextStep connects top consulting talent with high-potential opportunities through smart, AI-powered matching. We partner with ambitious companies across sectors to place experienced professionals in roles where they can have a real impact. On behalf of a client in our partner network, we are currently looking for a Business Transformation Director to join their team.

About the Company

Our client is a major UK general insurer headquartered in London, with a growing personal and commercial lines business and revenues of £1.8bn. Following the appointment of a new Group CEO, the business is embarking on a major transformation programme designed to modernise the operating model, reduce costs, and improve customer outcomes across claims, underwriting, and distribution. The Business Transformation Director is a critical hire and will be the delivery engine behind this agenda.

The Role

As Business Transformation Director, you will lead the design and delivery of the business transformation programme, setting the transformation agenda in collaboration with the Group CEO and COO, building and leading a transformation office, and driving measurable change across the organisation. This is a highly visible, highly impactful role with direct Board exposure and the potential to shape the future of a major financial services business.

What You'll Do

- Define the scope and architecture of the transformation programme in collaboration with Group ExCo, and secure Board sponsorship and funding.

- Build and lead a transformation office of programme managers, business analysts, and change leads.

- Own the transformation roadmap and ensure workstreams are sequenced, resourced, and governed effectively.

- Act as the senior interface between the transformation programme and business divisions, resolving escalations and ensuring alignment.

- Deliver regular programme performance updates to the Board Transformation Committee and ExCo.

What We're Looking For

  • 12–18 years of experience in transformation leadership, management consulting (Partner or Director level), or a senior change role in a large financial services institution.

  • Proven track record of designing and delivering enterprise-wide transformation programmes with tangible business outcomes.

  • Outstanding stakeholder management and executive presence, comfortable engaging with the Board and external regulators.

  • Deep understanding of operating model design, process improvement, and organisational change in complex businesses.

  • Insurance or broader financial services experience is strongly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary of £160,000 – £200,000, depending on experience.

  • Significant annual bonus and LTIP participation.

  • Executive pension, private health cover, and comprehensive benefits.

  • Hybrid working from the London headquarters.
