Our Business Systems Analyst (BSA) is accountable for translating business strategy, objectives, and requirements into clear, actionable solutions that enable successful delivery across the Software Operations organization. This role serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders, Product, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams, ensuring business needs are effectively understood, documented, prioritized, and implemented.

In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing complex business problems, defining requirements, documenting business rules and process flows, and supporting solution delivery from concept through production deployment. You will work cross-functionally with business and technology teams to facilitate backlog refinement, clarify requirements throughout development, support user acceptance testing (UAT), and drive successful business sign-off. Additionally, you will analyze production issues, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and leverage data-driven and AI-enabled approaches to improve solution quality, operational efficiency, and business outcomes. You will regularly engage with stakeholders across the organization to communicate requirements, recommendations, impacts, and solutions while helping ensure technology investments align with Zayo's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business epics and high-level requirements into ready, prioritized features and user stories.

  • Review and clarify prototypes, workflows, and solution designs.

  • Define business rules, data mappings, edge cases, exception handling requirements, and acceptance criteria.

  • Facilitate backlog refinement sessions and ensure requirements are delivery ready.

  • Provide ongoing requirements clarification during sprint execution.

  • Support UAT planning, execution, defect triage, and business sign-off activities.

  • Analyze production issues and translate defects, enhancements, and operational improvements into backlog items.

  • Create and maintain requirements documentation, process flows, functional specifications, and business analysis artifacts.

  • Partner with Product Owners, Delivery Leads, Engineering, and QA teams to ensure successful solution delivery.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and leverage AI-enabled tools to improve analysis, productivity, and business insights.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar role supporting software delivery teams.

  • Experience translating business requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, process flows, functional specifications, data mapping documentation, UAT scenarios, defect analysis, and release readiness activities.

  • Experience facilitating backlog refinement, requirements workshops, UAT activities, defect analysis, release readiness reviews, and stakeholder sign-off processes.

  • Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.

  • Experience analyzing production issues and converting findings into actionable backlog items and enhancements.

  • Knowledge of business process analysis, systems integrations, and data flows.

  • Experience using AI-enabled tools, automation platforms, analytics solutions, or generative AI technologies to improve business analysis, decision-making, productivity, and operational efficiency.

  • Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment and influence outcomes without direct authority.

Personal Characteristics

  • Strong customer and business-focused mindset.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Growth-oriented mindset with a passion for continuous learning and professional development.

  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment with changing priorities.

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and creating clarity for stakeholders and delivery teams.

  • Collaborative team player who builds strong cross-functional relationships.

  • Continuous improvement mindset with interest in AI, automation, and emerging technologies.

  • Strong ownership, accountability, and commitment to delivery success.
