Job Summary

St. James the Greater and Epiphany of Our Lord Parishes are vibrant Catholic communities working together to help people encounter Christ and live the Gospel. The Business Manager serves as a key member of the parish leadership team, providing oversight of administrative, financial, operational, facility, and personnel functions. Reporting directly to the Pastor, this position ensures the effective stewardship of parish resources while supporting the mission and ministries of both parishes. This position may be structured as either full-time or part-time based on parish needs and candidate qualifications.

Description

  • Provide leadership and oversight for parish administrative and operational functions.
  • Manage office operations, workflows, scheduling systems, records management, and administrative processes.
  • Collaborate with the Pastor and Finance Council to oversee budgets, financial reporting, bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, contribution tracking, and financial compliance.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of parish resources and adherence to Archdiocesan policies and procedures.
  • Supervise, support, and develop administrative and support staff while fostering a collaborative and mission-driven work environment.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance, building security, space utilization, and vendor relationships.
  • Oversee technology systems, software, office equipment, and related contracts to ensure reliable parish operations.
  • Support parish ministries by providing administrative guidance, operational resources, and organizational support.
  • Manage and oversee parish communications, including bulletins, websites, email communications, social media platforms, and parish databases.
  • Prepare operational and financial reports for the Pastor, Finance Council, and other parish leadership groups.
  • Monitor organizational goals, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement effective solutions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive personnel, financial, and parish information.
  • Support and advance the mission, values, and teachings of the Catholic Church in all aspects of parish administration.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of experience in business administration, operations management, finance, nonprofit administration, parish administration, or a related leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, financial reporting, and operational processes.
  • Proven ability to supervise, motivate, and develop staff and volunteer teams.
  • Strong organizational, planning, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace.
  • Experience with financial software and database systems required; familiarity with ParishSOFT, Realm, QuickBooks, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Commitment to servant leadership and support of the mission, values, and teachings of the Catholic Church.
