Business Intelligence Analyst

Job summary:

The Business Intelligence Analyst role focused on turning complex data into clear, strategic insights, with strong technical depth in Power BI development, data modeling, and ETL processes. The role works closely with BI developers on query logic, data pipelines, and report architecture, helping ensure that Excel and Power BI solutions are built efficiently, scale well, and reflect sound data logic. Operating across a global, multi-market and multi-category environment, this position bridges business and technical teams, translating analytical needs into well-structured queries and data models, and supporting cross-functional projects that improve reporting quality and analytical capability. The role contributes senior-level technical judgment on data transformation, automation, and dashboard design, helping the wider team build more reliable and efficient reporting solutions.

Main duties and responsibilities:

•    Serves as a data & insights contact for business stakeholders across all markets and clients, helping translate commercial questions into clear analytical and reporting requirements.
•    Applies strong working knowledge of Power BI, including data modeling fundamentals (relationships, table structure), DAX (measures, calculated columns, time intelligence), and Power Query/M, to build and maintain reports and dashboards.
•    Writes and uses SQL queries for reporting and data extraction purposes, supporting BI developers and analysts with data access needs.
•    Supports the definition of data transformation logic and ETL workflows, helping ensure data flows from source to report are accurate and consistent across markets.
•    Identifies and resolves common Power BI performance issues (e.g. slow refreshes, model size), with working familiarity with Power BI Service (workspaces, datasets, gateways).
•    Builds, implements, and maintains Excel-based reporting using formulas, Power Pivot, and Power Query, alongside Power BI solutions.
•    Helps maintain consistent dashboard design, KPI definitions, and data model structure across regions, while allowing for local flexibility where needed.
•    Identifies and analyzes root causes of variances in business performance, providing actionable recommendations to account and category teams across multiple markets.
•    Highlights opportunities for revenue and margin growth through pricing, promotional, and other analyses on a global scale.
•    Contributes to cross-functional projects, providing analytical and technical input from requirements gathering through to dashboard implementation.
•    Shares knowledge and best practices with other analysts on query logic, data modeling, and Power BI development.
•    When needed, supports the Finance team in budget processes for specific airlines with data and analytical inputs.

Core Competencies and Requirements:

•    University degree in relevant field (Faculty of Economics/Faculty of Organizational Sciences/Faculty of Mathematics etc.)

•    5+ years of experience in a data/BI analyst role, with experience translating business requirements into reporting and data solutions.
•    Experience in working collaboratively with BI developers, translating business requirements into technical solutions.
•    Familiarity with data warehouse concepts is a plus.
•    Strong working knowledge of Power BI, including data modeling fundamentals (relationships, table structure), DAX (measures, calculated columns, time intelligence), and Power Query/M for data transformation.
•    Good SQL skills, with experience writing queries for reporting and data extraction purposes
•    Good understanding of ETL workflows, with experience supporting data transformation logic to ensure accurate and consistent reporting across markets.
•    Working familiarity with Power BI Service, including workspaces, datasets, and gateways, with experience identifying and resolving common performance issues such as slow refreshes or large model size.
