Job description

This organization is a well-established global manufacturer and distributor within the industrial piping and flow control space, supplying high-quality components to critical sectors such as oil & gas, energy, and construction. With vertically integrated international manufacturing partnerships and a steadily expanding North American presence, the company has built a reputation for delivering reliable, cost-effective solutions at scale. Their products play a critical role in infrastructure and industrial operations, supporting everything from large-scale energy projects to essential residential and commercial systems.

What sets this group apart is its ability to combine global sourcing and production capabilities with a highly responsive, relationship-driven sales approach. They are not just moving product—they are building long-term partnerships with distributors, wholesalers, and end users who rely on consistency, pricing, and service. With strong leadership, a clear growth trajectory, and continued investment in both people and operations, the company is positioned to significantly expand its footprint across key markets in the coming years.

The Business Development Specialist will be fully responsible for driving new customer acquisition and closing new business across target markets. This is a high-output, in-office, hunter-focused role built for someone who thrives on prospecting, outbound activity, and converting opportunities into revenue. The core mandate is simple: open new accounts, win business, and build a scalable pipeline.

This is not a passive account management role. You will be expected to actively identify prospects, initiate contact, build relationships from scratch, and close deals. Alongside new business development, you will also expand early-stage accounts through upselling and cross-selling once relationships are established.

You’ll work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding of new customers, while also gaining deep exposure to product lines, pricing structures, and market dynamics. This role is designed for someone who wants direct ownership of revenue generation and the ability to make a measurable impact quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect, identify, and close new business opportunities through cold calling, email outreach, networking, referrals, and trade shows
  • Own the full sales cycle from initial outreach through to closing new accounts
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline focused on new customer acquisition
  • Develop targeted strategies to penetrate new accounts and expand into untapped markets and verticals
  • Conduct consistent outbound activity with a focus on high-volume prospecting and conversion
  • Manage early-stage relationships post-close to ensure successful onboarding and expansion opportunities
  • Drive revenue through new account wins, upselling, and cross-selling where applicable
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support quoting, pricing, and order execution for new customers
  • Participate in industry events, trade shows, and customer visits to accelerate pipeline growth
  • Travel domestically and internationally (including Asia) to meet clients and manufacturing partners

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of sales experience, ideally in a true business development / hunter role
  • Experience selling into oil & gas, construction, distributors, or wholesalers is preferred
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in piping, valves, fittings, or adjacent industrial product industries
  • Proven track record of generating and closing new business through outbound prospecting
  • Strong commercial instincts with the ability to open doors and close deals independently
  • Comfortable working in an in-office, high-activity, sales-driven environment
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities in a fast-paced, target-driven setting
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required

Compensation

  • Base salary: $65,000 – $80,000+ depending on experience
  • Performance-based bonus tied to KPIs and overall team sales performance
  • Team-based commission structure with strong earning potential
  • Clear opportunity for growth within a rapidly expanding organization
