About the opportunity


The Business Development Manager for Sydney Health Executive Education is responsible for identifying and establishing new relationships with organisations in health, both domestically and internationally, as well as strengthening and maintaining existing relationships. The role works collaboratively with organisations to pitch, win and deliver and establish custom health education programs as well as playing a key role in B2B sales for open enrolment programs. The Business Development Manager will be expected to proactively find new business opportunities, manage relationships, respond to enquiries, qualify leads, develop proposals, contribute to the development of business development strategies, manage the B2B and B2G sales pipeline as well as promote and sell short courses and micro credential programs.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • meet the agreed growth KPI's for medicine and health short courses and micro credentials

  • build relationships, networks and interact with a diverse range of internal and external customers, from C-suite to heads of Departments

  • represent The University of Sydney and Sydney Health Executive Education at industry events, expos, and conferences to increase market presence

  • manage the proposal and bid-writing process, including for tender and grant applications

  • develop and maintain an understanding of the course offerings from Sydney Health Executive Education to successfully link business problems with services and learning solutions

  • provide analysis, insight and advice on areas of interest and demand to support the education strategy

  • manage negotiations and the contracting process for new deals and clients

  • coordinate with marketing, education, academic and other teams to ensure seamless execution of deliverables according to agreed timelines

  • engage and build strong relationships with stakeholders, facilitating discussion to address concerns and gather feedback, ensuring alignment with work area goals

  • manage work area reporting and compliance ensuring accurate information on university systems and adherence to work area requirement

  • contribute to the development of preliminary budgets and ensure that expenditures align with approved financial plans for the work area


About you

  • 5+ years of experience working in the health sector. Experience in health education sales highly valued

  • extensive experience in business development or stakeholder engagement with an ability to achieve monthly activity and revenue targets as a key metric of performance and annual performance reviews

  • demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple client groups to meet deadlines and manage competing demands

  • excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • demonstrated experience in preparing and delivering successful proposals, tenders and presentations

  • high-level representation and negotiations skills including the ability to secure formal and informal agreements

  • digital literacy to support communication, reporting and monitoring of business development activities

  • excellent critical Thinking and Decision Making

  • experience managing projects and utilising CRM Systems
