The Business Development Assoc position is responsible for lead generation and other support to the sales team and VP sales. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to 1.) Prospect and schedule meetings for Truven Health's solutions across the Life Sciences marketplace. 2.) Identify potential customers' key business challenges in order to demonstrate how Truven Health will address their needs. This includes creating value with these prospects, appropriately matching these needs with Truven Health solutions and transitioning these prospects to the appropriate sales directors. 3.) Actively follow up on conference leads, web seminar registrations, and email leads. This person will partner with sales directors to pass qualified leads and help them generate new business to drive company growth targets.  


Essential Responsibilities  

  • Research, assess, and identify the mid-size pharmas and medical device companies that have a need and budget for Truven's solutions.
  • Generate new business sales of Life Sciences to new customers.
  • Construct a formal business plan that will be updated and reviewed on a quarterly basis. The plan should have a key focus on sales activities targeted to Life Sciences and individual prospects based on the needs and corresponding solution.
  • Demonstrate consistently high activity levels, calling on customers and/or prospects via phone, email, web presentations and leveraging social media as appropriate.
  • Consistently exceeding required activity metrics is required.
  • Facilitate smooth transition of leads to sales directors to increase sales success.
  •  Reach assigned quotas for number of leads, scheduled meetings, and closed sales.

REQUIRED Skills and Experience:

At least two years of demonstrated success in sales and/or lead generation in the healthcare marketplace. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to clearly communicate by phone and written word. Superb customer service and relationship-building capabilities. Understanding of and demonstrated ability to use and leverage basic business tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, WebEx, salesforce.com, etc. 

PREFERRED Skills and Experience:

Experience with high-volume call environment. Ability to leverage social media to gain access to prospective clients and schedule meetings. 


Education / Certifications:

Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university or equivalent experience preferred.
