Job description

Are you a performer, teacher, or creative person with an upbeat outlook?

¡Hola! We’re so glad you found us.

Chess at Three is the only program in the world that teaches kids as young as 3 to play chess through fun, silly storytelling. And guess what? You don’t need to be a chess master — if you can tell a story, you can teach with us.

We’re rapidly growing, with over 100 tutors reaching 15,000+ children weekly in NYC, LA, and beyond. Now, we’re looking for bilingual (English/Spanish) tutors in New York to help bring our unique, story-based learning to even more families.

What You’ll Do

  • Teach kids (ages 3–10) how to play chess using our story-based method

  • Use your bilingual skills to connect with Spanish-speaking families and communities

  • Deliver in-home and in-school lessons using our ready-made curriculum

  • Build meaningful relationships with families, kids, and our community

What We’re Looking For

  • Bilingual: fluent in Spanish and English

  • Great with kids — animated, fun, and full of heart

  • Experience as a teacher, tutor, performer, or early childhood professional

  • Self-starter mindset — you’re organized, responsible, and proactive

  • Background in hospitality, customer service, or community building is a plus

  • Familiarity with chess is helpful, but not required

  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred

  • Must pass a background check

Details

  • $40/hour starting rate

  • Top tutors earn up to $2,100/week

  • Part-time contractor with potential for full-time employment

  • Flexible schedule: after school, weekends, and choose-your-own hours
