Job description
  1. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
    1. Protects customers from quality spills by implementing quality control activities along with preventive actions.
    2. Responsible for developing effective and efficient quality methods, maintaining documentation throughout the Quality processes.
    3. Conduct HSE orientations and trainings to all level employees (new hires and existing as applicable), including orientations specific to each business area.
    4. Develop, manage and maintain QHSE related items at all levels (emergency evacuation to corporate initiatives)
    5. Helps maintain current government reporting, SWWP, TIRR, OSHA 300 log, etc.
    6. Manages the day-to-day activities of team members, including scheduling and managing ongoing projects with regard to QHSE tasks.
    7. Provides supervision, technical assistance and scheduling to quality assurance inspectors and associates.
 
  1. KEY AREAS OF ACTIVITY AND RESPONSIBILITY
    1. Develop, apply and maintain QHSE requirements and standards.
    2. Establish, document and maintain all Quality Assurance policies and procedures; including the upkeep of the Quality Manual and supporting procedures.
    3. Provide technical assistance and training to Quality personnel.
    4. Promote and create awareness for compliance of customer HSE requirements, regulatory and industry requirements, and internal company guidelines throughout the organization
    5. Identify, develop and communicate key OH&S and/or OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
    6. Identify PPE requirements across business areas and maintain inventories
    7. Take ownership of assigned production readiness activities to ensure that quality and safety awareness is inherent in process development.
    8. Reviewing near misses, incidents, investigation, reporting, communication of lessons learned and supporting the follow-up.
    9. Provide statistical analysis on the performance of new and existing designs and processes.
    10. Perform root cause analysis on customer/field and factory failures and coordinate resolution of customer complaints.
    11. Helps develop and implement statistical inspection sampling plans for incoming and outgoing product considering appropriate alpha and beta risks.
    12. Develop monthly reports showing inspection and audit performance and improvement opportunities.
    13. Supervisory responsibilities for the direction and development of the Quality Systems team members.


      AUTONOMY/ACCOUNTABILITY:  Dotted line to Plant Manager.  Responsibility over approval of Corrective / Preventive Actions.  Escalates all issues impacting the timely implementation and quality of all corrective actions to upper management.  Putting the product on hold, release or disposition as necessary while adhering to policies and procedures. Commission safety training for site personnel.

      IMPACT/SCOPE: Responsible for Quality department within the assigned NAME facility.  Quality inspectors reporting directly to this position.   Reports to top management on the performance of the safety and quality management system, any needs for safety or process improvement and escalates any customer issues requiring immediate attention.

      Relationships:  Works closely with customers to captures VOC.  Works with operations and engineering to capture address safety/process/product/business gaps impacting customers and the company's bottom line.

  2. EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED: 
    1. Bachelor's degree.  Field of study: Technical discipline or non-technical degree with 3-5 years of relevant QHSE manufacturing base experience.
    2. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (preferred)
    3. Six Sigma and Lean Certification or Training
    4. Advanced degree in quality management, engineering or business discipline preferred
    5. Knowledge of root cause analysis methods and corrective and preventive action processes and tools 
    6. Statistical Process Control knowledge and experience
    7. Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management system or equivalent
    8. Knowledge and experience of OSHA reporting
    9. Knowledge and experience of Tier I and Tier II EPA reporting
    10. TRI knowledge and experience
    11. Creating Safety Plans and conducting safety training for overhead cranes and forklifts. 
    12. Ability to conduct capability studies, Gage R&Rs, and Design of Experiments
    13. Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization.
    14. Excellent interpersonal, communication and documentation skills.
    15. Demonstrated ability to deliver results against organization goals
    16. Demonstrated ability to address and resolve complex technical issues
    17. Computer proficient; detailed and comprehensive report writing
    18. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
