Job description

Energy Capital & Power is seeking an experienced, bilingual (English/Spanish) Energy Writer and Interviewer to conduct on-the-ground, high-profile interviews and articles in the run up to and during Venezuela Energy Week 2026 in Caracas, taking place October 26–29, 2026.

Operating in a fast-paced environment, you will interface directly with government ministers, public sector officials, international investors and executives from major operators and state entities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • High-Impact Interviewing: Conduct professional, on-the-ground interviews in both Spanish and English with state officials, ministerial leaders and private sector executives.
  • B2B Storytelling & Intelligence Reporting: Translate technical, complex discussions on hydrocarbons legislation, mature field reactivations and gas monetization into highly scannable, data-driven editorial pieces.
  • Real-Time Coverage: Deliver fast-turnaround editorial content – including news briefs, executive Q&As and press releases during Venezuela Energy Week – capturing the key takeaways from panels and strategic discussions and forums.

Key Priorities & Context:

Your writing and interviews will focus heavily on several key themes defining the summit:

  • Regulatory Reforms: The operational and financial impacts of recent hydrocarbons legislation, particularly around contractual incentives, reduced fiscal burdens, and capital recovery.
  • Upstream Acceleration: Investment pipelines in the Orinoco Belt (Junín, Carabobo, Ayacucho) and brownfield rehabilitation in the Maracaibo Basin.
  • Infrastructure & Gas: Progress on regional gas monetization (e.g., Dragón and Cocuina-Manakin offshore developments) and midstream/refinery restoration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Language: Full professional fluency in both English and Spanish.
  • Industry Expertise: Prior experience writing for the oil and gas, energy and/or investment sectors is strongly preferred
  • Executive Presence: You must be comfortable asking direct, insightful questions to senior government representatives, international operators, and financial leaders.
  • Location: Ability to be on-site in Caracas, Venezuela from August and the duration of the event (October 26–29, 2026).
