Functions with demonstrated expertise in patient care for mental and behavioral health. The nurse provides direct clinical care and support within the behavioral health realm. As a recognized resource for consultation to the bedside staff, the nurse assists assessment, clinical management, communication, crisis prevention, regulatory readiness, and evidence-based care practice. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promotes a safe environment.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse, RN license issued by the state of Wisconsin

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred, but Associates degree in Nursing considered.

  • Requires at least 1 year of experience in nursing. 2 years of nursing experience preferred

  • Requires 1 year experience with patients having co-occurring behavioral health presentations, or in psychiatric or behavioral health

  • Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). 

  • Experience in a pediatric medical setting is strongly preferred.

  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and families

  • Experience working with diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds  

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Provides services in a setting where there is potential for exposure to blood and other high risk body fluids, chemotherapy agents, communicable disease and hazardous materials, chemicals, and waste.

  • Ongoing risk of vicarious trauma by providing services to a population that carriers a high burden of injury through experiencing adversity and violence.

  • Employees may:

  • Need to move from furniture to floor or engage in play-type activities with children in a variety of room types (exam, interviewing, therapy).

  • Need to verbally de-escalate upset children, adolescents, or adults.

  • Need to adapt approaches or communication styles to fit the needs of the patient population.

Schedule Details: This is a Casual FTE - current needs are weekends, Day 12 hour shifts and 12 hour Night shifts
