Apply to this jobJob Description Summary: Primary Responsibility is to assist the client and their families in progress toward specific goals by working one-on-one with the client. This person works cohesively with the Administrative and clinical staff involved with the client’s treatment plan. Behavior Therapist I works one-on-one with extensive data collection of the client’s progress. Behavior Therapist I provide services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (addiction/substance use and mental health) issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often times have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. Behavior Therapist I demonstrates a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. Behavior Therapist I will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which will prevent victimization, abuse, or trauma as a result of the care received. Behavior Therapist I reports to the Autism Supervisor and Clinical Director of the Bill & Virginia Leffen Center for Autism.
Education:
- A graduate from an accredited four (4) year college or university, or four (4) years’ experience delivering ABA services or equivalent.
Work Experiences:
- Prefer prior experience with Applied behavior analysis, but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Performing intensive interventions with children with autism within the methodology of Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Implementing plans to reduce challenging behavior.
- Receiving weekly or bi-monthly supervision.
- Collecting and maintaining data.
- Report writing as required.
- Teaching and coaching of family members, caregivers, etc. as assigned.
- Completing billing forms/documentation as required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical demands include prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, and occasional team lifting to 200 pounds.
- Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator, and other office equipment as needed.
- Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and to work irregular hours and deal with irate individuals.
- May require evening and weekend hours.
- TB test upon hire
