Backend Software Engineer - TikTok - Singapore

We are the messaging team on TikTok. Our team's mission is to facilitate meaningful user connections through TikTok's messaging experience, which is still in its infancy. We achieve our mission by building and shipping tools that help our users more easily connect and share the things they care about.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the backend development and iteration of TikTok Messaging in the Singapore team, building and evolving server-side capabilities for Streak, Stickers, Voice & Video Call, and other core messaging features, and participating in the backend architecture design and implementation of TikTok Social Messaging;
- Build and maintain server-side IM infrastructure (IMCloud), including cloud-based IM data management and cross-datacenter synchronization, to ensure a reliable core messaging experience; safeguard user privacy and ensure IM data compliance with regulatory requirements across regions;
- Explore next-generation messaging experiences powered by LLM and AIGC, including conversational chatbots, AIGC-powered stickers, and other personalized features that elevate user engagement;
- Continuously improve the performance, stability, and scalability of the Messaging system under high-concurrency scenarios, reduce system access costs, and improve system reliability.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification(s):
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, or related fields
- Strong learning and communication skills, and a sustained passion for technology
- Strong logical analysis and system abstraction abilities
- Proficient in AI coding tools
- Solid computer fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, operating systems, etc.); familiar with at least one programming language (Java/Go/C++/Python, etc.)

Preferred Qualification(s):
- Interest in or practical experience with AI Skills/AI Agents
- Relevant work experience from a large-scale internet business
