Our Client is looking for Automation Support Lab Tech-with good equipment, pharmacology experience….!!!

The Automation Support Lab Tech will provides equipment and automation support for the Primary Pharmacology Group, which in turn supports plate-based in vitro screening for over 50 research projects. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Job responsibilities for this position include, working with internal lab instrument support personnel and external vendors to resolve equipment problems, tracking and logging equipment issues, QC of liquid handling automation, equipment information gathering to support strategic planning, and method / protocol development for liquid handling and plate reader technologies. 

• The position will support the expansion of laboratory equipment support, both directly and indirectly by freeing up internal resource, beyond traditional plate based pharmacology to include support for high content imaging and cell & protein reagent generation laboratories.

• For the first 3-6 months: develop understanding of the laboratory equipment used in PPG and workflows in the primary pharmacology group; check and update catalogue of laboratory equipment in pharmacology and reagent generation labs and enter information into central database.

• For the remainder of the first year, broaden skills to include equipment QC and troubleshooting of equipment in primary pharmacology group.

• During years 2 and 3, in addition to responsibilities and skills listed above, increased/deeper knowledge on variety of laboratory equipment including writing methods and protocols on liquid handling and plate reader instruments in pharmacology group. 

• There will be a need for continuous learning for the duration of the project on the various instrument platforms to increase the scope of support that can be provided to the primary pharmacology group.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS NEEDED: 

• BS in biology with 1-3 years of relevant experience in laboratory equipment use and support.

• Successful applicant should be skilled in the use of Microsoft applications, including Excel and Access.

• Strong organizational and communication skills are required and be a quick learner.

• Experience with Biomek FX, Matrix Platemate and Platemate Plus, Perkin Elmer Microbeta and Envision plate readers desired.

• Knowledge of pharmaceutical plate based screening assays and workflow a plus.
