Automation Specialist

Location: Gurabon, Puerto Rico
Department: Engineering – Automation & Controls
Shift: 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled Automation Specialist (Engineer) with a background in electrical or mechanical engineering and strong experience in packaging automation. This role is responsible for programming, designing, deploying, and optimizing control systems to enhance packaging line performance in a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, programming, and commissioning of packaging automation systems (PLC/HMI/SCADA).

• Provide support for installation, startup, and qualification of new automation equipment.

• Troubleshoot complex automation and control systems.

• Develop and maintain control documentation and strategies.

• Collaborate across departments to ensure successful project execution.

• Drive continuous improvement to increase line efficiency and reduce downtime.

• Ensure compliance with FDA, cGMP, and safety standards.

• Support shift operations from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and be available for travel as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

• 2-3 years of experience in automation engineering, preferably in packaging systems.

• Proficiency in PLC (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI/SCADA programming.

• Experience with robotics, motion control, and packaging integration.

• Strong analytical and teamwork skills.

Preferred:

• Experience with GMP, validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ), and networked systems.
