The Automation Shop Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining automation equipment used in industrial applications. This role supports both customer purchase orders and rental equipment while ensuring all products meet company quality and safety standards. The technician works closely with the shop team to complete projects on schedule and maintain an organized, efficient work environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Wire and assemble communications (COMS) boxes, control panels, and related automation equipment.

  • Build and test rental equipment to ensure proper operation before deployment.

  • Fabricate and assemble solar panel mounting frames and other mechanical assemblies.

  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues on automation equipment.

  • Build and prepare equipment for customer purchase orders according to engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Perform routine shop maintenance, including cleaning, organizing work areas, and maintaining tools and equipment.

  • Conduct inventory counts and assist with inventory management to ensure accurate stock levels.

  • Complete daily shop tasks as assigned to support production schedules and customer deadlines.

  • Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma and/or equivalent in work experience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proficient in oral and written communications

  • Assembly experience preferred

  • Basic reading skills

  • Must be able to follow directions

  • Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service technical equipment

  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly

  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem and to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea

  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules

  • Familiarity with mobile tools and applications
