Auto Electrician

Job Summary:

The Auto Electrician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining all electrical systems and components in trucks, trailers, and heavy vehicles, including hoopers and bulkers. The role ensures that all vehicles are in safe, reliable operating condition in compliance with company and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical wiring, circuits, and components in trucks and trailers.

• Maintain and troubleshoot lighting systems (headlights, indicators, brake lights, interior lights, etc.).

• Service and repair starter motors, alternators, and batteries.

• Diagnose and repair truck electronic control systems (ECU, ABS, EBS, transmission electronics).

• Install and maintain sensors, relays, switches, and other electronic components.

• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems to reduce downtime.

• Use diagnostic tools, multimeters, and scanning devices to identify electrical issues.

• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals.

• Ensure proper record keeping of repairs, parts used, and maintenance performed.

• Follow workshop safety standards and use PPE when performing tasks.

• Support emergency roadside repairs when required

Requirements

• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Auto Electrical / Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.

• Proven experience as an auto electrician, preferably with heavy trucks and trailers.

• Strong knowledge of truck electrical systems (24V systems, sensors, alternators, starters).

• Ability to use electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.

• Understanding of CAN bus systems, ECU, and modern truck electronics.

• Basic knowledge of the electric of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is an advantage.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Team player with good communication skills.
