Position Description The Associate Vice President of Undergraduate Admissions is a senior leader within the Division of Enrollment Management and serves as the University’s chief strategist for undergraduate recruitment and enrollment. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the AVP provides visionary leadership for undergraduate admissions, recruitment strategy, enrollment planning, and admissions operations to achieve the University’s freshman and transfer enrollment goals while advancing Biola University’s long-term enrollment sustainability. The Associate Vice President leads a high-performing admissions organization responsible for developing and executing comprehensive enrollment strategies informed by market intelligence, demographic trends, predictive analytics, and institutional priorities. This leader translates institutional vision into measurable enrollment outcomes while ensuring an exceptional, high-touch admissions experience for prospective students and their families. Working collaboratively across the University, the AVP partners with Marketing, Financial Aid, Enrollment Operations, Student Success, Academic Leadership, Athletics, Finance, and University Analytics to align institutional resources in support of undergraduate enrollment growth. The AVP serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership by providing enrollment forecasting, strategic analysis, market intelligence, and recommendations that inform institutional planning and decision-making. This individual regularly presents enrollment updates, strategic initiatives, and performance metrics to Cabinet, executive leadership, and the Board of Trustees. Success in this role requires an experienced enrollment executive who combines strategic vision, analytical excellence, organizational leadership, innovation, and a passion for developing people while navigating the rapidly changing landscape of higher education. All responsibilities are carried out in alignment with and in support of the mission of Biola University. The person who fills this position must personally agree with Biola’s Articles of Faith and support the positions taken by Biola as contained in its Statement of Biblical Principles and Eschatology Teaching Position. Enrollment Management Reports To Vice President for Enrollment Management Educational Requirements Bachelor’s Degree required Master’s Degree strongly preferred Minimum seven to ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in undergraduate admissions, enrollment management, or related higher education leadership Demonstrated success leading teams that consistently achieve enrollment goals Exempt (01), full-time – 40 hours/week, 12 months per year This position requires regular on-campus presence at Biola University in La Mirada, California, with limited hybrid flexibility as approved by the supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Serve as the University’s senior leader responsible for undergraduate enrollment strategy and admissions performance. Develop and execute comprehensive undergraduate enrollment strategies that achieve institutional enrollment, net tuition revenue, and class composition goals. Translate institutional priorities into measurable recruitment initiatives that strengthen Biola’s competitive position. Advise the Vice President regarding enrollment trends, demographic shifts, competitive positioning, pricing sensitivity, and strategic opportunities. Champion innovation and continuous improvement throughout Undergraduate Admissions. Lead annual and multi-year undergraduate enrollment planning. Establish institutional, territory, counselor, and market-specific enrollment goals. Develop predictive enrollment models and scenario planning strategies. Continuously evaluate enrollment performance and adjust strategy based on changing market conditions. Identify emerging enrollment opportunities and proactively mitigate enrollment risks. Lead institutional enrollment forecasting using predictive analytics and data modeling. Monitor leading and lagging enrollment indicators across the recruitment funnel. Translate complex enrollment data into strategic recommendations for executive leadership. Prepare and present enrollment reports to Cabinet, Executive Leadership, and the Board of Trustees. Develop dashboards and scorecards that drive accountability throughout Undergraduate Admissions. Partner with Enrollment Analytics to evaluate enrollment performance, market opportunities, and institutional effectiveness. Lead and develop a high-performing admissions organization committed to excellence, innovation, and exceptional student service. Responsibilities include: Recruiting, hiring, coaching, and retaining exceptional admissions professionals. Developing future admissions leaders through intentional mentoring and leadership development. Establishing a culture of accountability centered on measurable enrollment outcomes. Conducting regular coaching focused on territory management, relationship development, recruitment effectiveness, and communication excellence. Evaluating performance through counselor scorecards and key performance indicators. Building a highly collaborative team culture characterized by ownership, continuous learning, innovation, and mission alignment. Champion a student-centered admissions philosophy that reflects Biola University’s commitment to personalized care. Responsibilities include: Ensuring prospective students and families receive exceptional, responsive, and relational service throughout the enrollment journey. Establishing standards of excellence for communication, responsiveness, hospitality, and professionalism. Continuously evaluating and improving the admissions experience. Strengthening counselor effectiveness in consultative admissions advising and relationship-based recruitment. Oversee undergraduate recruitment from inquiry through enrollment. Optimize every stage of the enrollment funnel. Direct territory strategy, travel planning, recruitment events, and yield initiatives. Lead summer melt mitigation strategies. Partner with Marketing to align digital marketing, communication strategy, brand messaging, and lead generation efforts. Continuously evaluate recruitment effectiveness using conversion metrics and enrollment outcomes. Champion strategic use of Slate CRM and admissions technologies. Leverage AI-enabled recruitment tools, predictive analytics, workflow automation, and communication platforms to improve efficiency and personalization. Partner with Enrollment Operations to improve business processes, reporting, and communication workflows. Identify opportunities for operational excellence that enhance both staff effectiveness and the student experience. Manage the undergraduate admissions budget. Allocate resources strategically based on enrollment priorities and return on investment.
