About the Role

As an Associate Underwriter, you’ll start on the ground floor of an exciting, analytical, and fast-paced profession. Underwriting blends research, data analysis, and decision-making to evaluate risks and shape business outcomes. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals who will train and mentor you — no prior underwriting experience required.

What You’ll Do

A typical day in this role might include:

  • Analyzing and evaluating commercial insurance submissions to assess risk and ensure profitability.
  • Collaborating with senior underwriters and management on account strategies and recommendations.
  • Building relationships with producers and brokers through communication and marketing efforts.
  • Reviewing and classifying risks, determining appropriate coverage, rates, and premiums.
  • Contributing to innovation, helping develop new products, forms, and coverage solutions.
  • Monitoring performance metrics to ensure production goals and profitability are met.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Word, and data-driven decision-making tools.
  • A team-oriented, entrepreneurial mindset with curiosity and initiative.
  • Prior experience or internships demonstrating sound judgment, quantitative ability, and growth potential.
  • Aptitude for leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity and decision-making.
  • Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs) and negotiation experience are a plus.
