Position Details

The Associate Provost for Academic Affairs reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and serves as a key member of the Provost's leadership team. The Associate Provost provides executive-level leadership across the division, encouraging and coordinating academic program innovation in graduate and continuing education, international programs, and other strategic initiatives identified by the Provost. This position is also responsible for institutional effectiveness, including academic program review and assessment of student learning outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • International Programs. Oversees the Office of International Programs; provides oversight of programs and activities related to the division’s internationalization efforts including study abroad and international student services; provides strategic leadership for the division’s international programs, including study abroad, international partnerships, and global engagement initiatives; oversees the development, approval, and ongoing review of study abroad programs, ensuring academic quality, student safety, and alignment with degree requirements across all program types; cultivates and manages international partnerships and articulation agreements, working with academic units to ensure agreements serve curricular needs and support sustainable, mutually beneficial relationships with partner institutions.
  • Graduate and Continuing Studies. Oversees the Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies; provides strategic leadership for new and existing graduate and continuing programs; investigate educational needs of the region to inform plans for new programs that might address those needs; leads Graduate Council; maintains general policies and procedures for graduate and continuing studies programs and students; explore emerging educational technology, pedagogy, and means of delivery to extend the effectiveness and reach of programs, particularly for evening and summer programs; consult with admissions and college deans to ensure that programs meet enrollment goals
  • Academic Program Assessment and Review. Supervises the Director of Assessment; leads the university’s academic program review process ensuring all undergraduate and graduate programs undergo substantive reviews on a defined cycle; oversees the annual reporting process for academic units, working with deans and chairs to ensure reports are timely, data-driven, and aligned with institutional priorities and strategic planning; works with academic leadership to interpret program review and assessment data,
  • identifying trends, risks, and opportunities that inform decisions on program viability, resource allocation, and curricular development.
  • Strategic Initiatives. Partners with the Provost to advance strategic priorities for the Division of Academic Affairs, translating institutional goals into actionable plans with clear timelines, ownership, and metrics for success; assists with special projects and initiatives on behalf of the Provost and ensures coordination among stakeholders to keep work moving and on schedule; monitors progress on division-wide strategic goals

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree required.
  • Scholarly achievement meriting appointment as a full professor at UTampa.
  • Demonstrated track record of visionary leadership, strategic and operational expertise, and a deep commitment to faculty excellence.
  • Demonstrated track record of working across colleges and the institution to create joint faculty success initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success in building high-performing teams, making data-informed decisions, and cultivating collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to identify trends and assess outcomes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of a comprehensive academic institution of higher learning including the capacity to shape strategic academic initiatives. Demonstrated track record of communication, teamwork, and strategic thinking.

Work Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Summer: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
